چکیده

This paper describes the development of a comprehensive subcatchment parameterization method for medium and large-scale watershed modelling based upon the fully distributed WetSpa model. A simplified approach is used in order to take advantage of the existing spatial analysis function within ArcView GIS and its Spatial Analyst and hydrological modelling extensions. The model combines elevation, soil and land use data within a GIS framework, and predicts the flood hydrograph and water balance over a river basin. The method of diffusive wave approximation is applied in tracing water for both overland flow and channel flow, while the water and energy budget are maintained for each very small watershed derived from the high resolution DEM. The method was applied to the Alzette River basin, an 1176-km medium-size watershed in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. Good agreement between the predicted and measured hydrograph has been achieved according to the graphical comparison and statistical assessment.

Integration of geographic information systems and simulation model for watershed management

Simulation models are powerful tools in support of watershed analysis and assessment of management scenarios at the watershed scale. This paper integrates geographic information systems (GIS) and agricultural nonpoint source pollution model (AGNPS) to analyze the effect of land use change on nonpoint source pollution in a study watershed. ArcView nonpoint source pollution modeling (AVNPSM), an ...

A GIS-Coupled Hydrological Model System for the Watershed Assessment of Agricultural Nonpoint and Point Sources of Pollution

This paper introduces AVSWAT, a GIS based hydrological system linking the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) water quality model and ArcView  Geographic Information System software. The main purpose of AVSWAT is the combined assessment of nonpoint and point pollution loading at the watershed scale. The GIS component of the system, in addition to the traditional functions of data acquisition...

Modeling the impacts of no-till practice on soil erosion and sediment yield with RUSLE, SEDD, and ArcView GIS

The revised universal soil loss equation (RUSLE), the sediment delivery distributed (SEDD) model, and ArcView GIS were used to estimate the impacts of no-till practice on soil erosion and sediment yield in Pataha Creek Watershed, a typical dryland agricultural watershed in southeastern Washington. The results showed that the average cell soil loss decreased from 11.09 to 3.10 t/ha yr for the wh...

Effect of GIS data quality on small watershed stream flow and sediment simulations

Simulations of total runoff and fine sediment yield in Goodwin Creek watershed, which covers 21Ð3 km2 in Mississippi, were carried out using a hydrological model-GIS system. The system includes the recently released Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model version 2000 and AVSWAT version 1Ð0, the supporting interface with ArcView GIS. Among the required GIS input, some are commonly available...

River Flow Estimation for Ungaged Stations Using Gis Model

Geographic information system (GIS) has had a great progress in river engineering in recent years. Most of new developed softwares in this area have the GIS abilities or are able to interact with GIS software. The application of GIS in this area is mostly for pre and post processing of input and output data. In this research, water flow of river has been estimated in an ungaged point using ArcV...
